John C Reilly and Joaquin Phoenix star in French filmmaker Jacques Audiard’s (Rust and Bone) English language debut, a subtle and darkly funny Western. 1850s Oregan: the squabbling Sisters brothers, Eli and Charlie, are two rangy, disreputable guys  who are in fact assassins, beginning a new mission for the shadowy “Commodore”. The storytelling is broad and appealing, the narrative witty and delightfully offbeat, in a satisfying story that both subverts and indulges the typical Western.  Reilly and Phoenix are immensely watchable.
