The Roaches – a Natural History.

Jon Rowe.

As well as being a popular place for recreation, the Roaches is an amazing place for wildlife.  The area is protected both nationally and internationally for its wildlife and rare wild habitats.  Designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and forming part of the South Pennine Moor Special Area for Conservation (SAC) and Special Protection Area, the Roaches consists of numerous internationally important habitats including blanket bog and upland moorland.

This talk is by the site warden, Jon Rowe, and will focus on the natural history & conservation of the Roaches Wildlife Trust site.

The lecturers in this programme ‘gift’ their talks to the Foxlowe, for which we thank them. Admission is free, with a Bucket Collection, also for the Foxlowe, for which we thank you.
