Beautifully filmed in black and white, set in a small town in Texas in 1951, where everyone knows everyone else’s business, The Last Picture Show is a stylish cult classic of American cinema. Each character is entirely believable, from the two teenage boys at the centre of the story, to the pool hall owner, the waitress in the cafe and the beautiful, manipulative, Jacy. Nominated for 8 Academy Awards it included Jeff Bridges and a young Cybill Shepherd in its cast. “Bogdanovich…speaks profoundly of loss, leave-taking, lost things.” The Independent.
