Winning this year’s Cannes Jury Prize, this bittersweet comedy, set in Scotland and directed by Ken Loach (Kes), opened to universal praise from the critics. Protagonist Robbie sneaks into the maternity hospital to visit his newborn son, Luke, swearing he will not suffer the same tragic life he has had.  Escaping a prison sentence by the skin of his teeth, he’s given one last chance . . .discovering he has a talented nose for whisky, he and three companions hatch a caper. With nods to Whisky Galore and Bill Forsyth, this is “a warm, deftly-plotted heist movie” Philip French, The Observer.
