I was delighted to be invited by Foxlowe Arts Centre volunteer Pauline Hart to perform at The Foxlowe Arts Centre. I’ve been hearing great things about all the various initiatives and exhibitions they have been hosting with a particular interest in the live bands and musicians they have been supporting. I absolutely love being able to come up and perform in my hometown, for all my friends and family who may not necessarily get the opportunity to come and see my shows in London.

I grew up in Leek and attended Westwood High School… It was performing in the school shows where I think I really got the bug for musical theatre. From the age of seven I attended The Marilyn Jones Dance Centre gaining a strong foundation in all aspects of performance! I moved to London at 18 when I received a full scholarship to train at The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts, graduating with Honours. I then continued my training at RADA taking part in their Musical Theatre courses and even having the opportunity to work with one of the American composers of the moment Jason Robert Brown.

I’ve now been performing professionally for 7 years, and have been very fortunate in the diversity of work I have been involved with. From Shakespeare, to Music Hall legend Marie Lloyd with a little bit of rock and pop thrown in between!

A life changing opportunity came when I auditioned to play Belle in a new musical adaptation of ‘Jekyll and Hyde’. This was a 6 month tour of Italy performing in some of the most stunning theatres I have ever seen. Not only did I have a fantastic time working on the show, but it was also a wonderful opportunity to explore a beautiful country.
Following on from that I became a part of the theatre company at The Brick Lane Music Hall, London, where I have been starring as their leading lady for the last 3 years, even appearing on BBC’s The One Show as part of their Children In Need appeal. I’ve performed alongside legends such as Julia Sutton, Craig Douglas, Alvin Stardust and Roy Hudd. I may even be featured in an episode of BBC1’s Inside Out presented by Matthew Wright. They have chosen to film a documentary about The Brick Lane Music Hall, it’s important role within the local community and its historical legacy!

I can also be found singing on The River Thames on-board The London Showboat, performing a variety of show songs as part of an evening dinner cruise. It’s such a special job, watching the spectacular sunsets over Tower Bridge and getting to sail past some of the most iconic buildings in London, which they illuminate beautifully by night. It’s been particularly exciting over the summer with the Olympics and Paralympics – entertaining the visitors from all
over the world, it’s been a wonderful atmosphere.

I’ll be at The Foxlowe Arts Centre on Saturday 27th September, singing a wide variety of songs from musicals old and new… right from Ivor Novello, Rogers and Hammerstein, The Gershwin’s, Cole Porter to Stephen Sondheim, Stephen Schwarts and many more. Tickets cost £5 and are available from Colloco and Foxlowe arts centre
