Boldwood - Spellbinding 18th century dance music @ Foxlowe Arts Centre | Leek | United Kingdom

‘Simply beautiful’ (Folk and Roots)
‘life-enhancing’ (English Dance and Song)
‘The most exciting band playing English music at the moment’ (Blast from the Past)

Boldwood takes neglected gems from hand-written manuscripts and little-known publications from the 17th and 18th centuries and injects its energy into music where the worlds of folk and classical music happily co-exist and inspire each other.

With rave reviews for its performances both in concert and for dancing, Boldwood’s unusual line-up of accordion and three fiddles makes its first appearance at the Foxlowe Arts Centre. The successor to Boldwood’s award-winning debut album Feet Don’t Fail Me Now (Hobgoblin Records), is being recorded during the summer of 2013, so expect some fabulous new arrangements of glorious old tunes this evening.

Becky Price – accordion
Matthew Coatsworth – fiddle, viola, English concertina
Daniel Wolverson – fiddle, viola
Kate Moran – fiddle, viola
