Described by Billy Connolly as the “funniest man in England” and acknowledged as the Grandfather of Folk, Mike’s current focus has shifted to his poetry and, in particular, an opportunity to share his work with a live audience. With four published anthologies to his credit, he’s been dropping in to read his poems at Poetry and Literary Festivals around the country. Here are some of the comments by festival directors:

“Humour and nostalgia gave us an insight in to this totally professional, talented and charming man” – Worcester Literary Festival.

“He reads with sincerity and a deep-seated musicality, and every now and then he just can’t help being side-splittingly funny!” – Swaledale Festival

“A rip-roaring success. The audience loved him.” – Thame Arts and Literature Festival.

“He was everything we wanted in our penultimate event – clearly deeply talented and such a nice man.” – Stratford-upon-Avon Poetry Festival

“His performance was polished, funny and engaged the audience throughout. The response was five-star all round.” – Havant Literary Festival.

Following these visits, Mike has decided to take his poetry on a tour of small theatres and arts centres in the North of England and beyond. And as well as reading his work, he’ll be telling the personal stories that prompted him to write them.

A more serious side of Mike Harding (www.mikeharding.co.uk) – Mike performs his poetry at The Foxlowe 8 for 8.30pm start. £8 Tickets from The Foxlowe, Leek TIC or online www.leekartsfestival.co.uk
